Read the assigned reading – Which of the two authors more convincing, and why? While you analyze and explain why one author’s rhetorical strategies is effective, also analyze and explain why the other author’s use of rhetorical strategies is ineffective or less effective. Your goal is to persuade your audience to agree with your analysis and evaluation.
Prepare a brief summary of the entire text (one paragraph).
Prepare a critique paragraph for each position. You may want to divide your critiques into positive and negative aspects (i.e. where did the authors succeed? Where did the authors not succeed?). Identify specific examples from the text to cite.
Write an introductory paragraph giving the context and your thesis – suggest that overall one writer is more successful than the other, and why.
Review the feedback on your first draft and revise.
Be sure to include proper APA style documentation for any references (quotes, paraphrases, and summaries) to the texts.
Submit your final essay to BB (Critical Response Essay – Final Draft in Assignments) – (no later than the end of day on Wednesday, February 23). Submissions will be checked for plagiarism. Late submissions are deducted 10% per day late up to five days. After five days, submissions are no longer accepted.
