Explain why database (not just “flat” data spreadsheets) is needed for OLAP in business.

Use the given textbook to understand OLAP. Then use all the findings and details from the PowerPoint to create the report based on all information listed below based off the PowerPoint details. The number of pages can exceed the limit of 4 pages.

NOTE: The findings can be found in the last slide. The findings are explained all throughout the powerpoint. Use photos from power point as examples.

The final product of the OLAP assignment is the assignment report.

The report should include the following contents:
(No general discussion of OLAP or BI&A is necessary because everyone has learned these concepts from the teaching materials already.)
(Report only): Explain why database (not just “flat” data spreadsheets) is needed for OLAP in business. Provide an overview of the entire data set you used for this assignment
(Report): Your BI strategy for this case
(Report): Data preparation for your OLAP process (explain the data sets used for this assignment)
(Report): You need at least 1 data cube with 3 or more dimensions plus 1 simple set of tables selected from the database to obtain interesting findings. The simple set of tables must NOT be a sub-set of the data cube. Typically, one data set is the supplier side, and the other data set is the customer side.
Show the 2 sets of tables for the 2 data sets for the assignment clearly on your presentation PPT as well as in your report.
(Report): Queries:
Show the data tables for the query.
More than just the queries for generating data sets for data cubes, data visualization, or statistical analysi. You need to have queries that include good criteria/formulas to extract interesting information from the data set, keeping “BID DATA” in mind. The query results should not demand much human manual effort (e.g., less than 3-5 data items).
Using screenshots with annotations to highlight findings.
(Report): Data cube operations:
Show the data set (tables of star schema / snowflake) for the data cube before the pivot table.
Show the complete pivot table with high-dimensional data.
Show the slice/dicing/drill-down process clearly for your findings
Using screenshots with annotations to highlight the process and findings.
(Report): Statistical analysis:
Show the data set (on the spreadsheet) used for the statistical analysis.
At least 1 regression OR 1 t-test OR ANOVA (one factor) with meaningful managerial sense.
Clear hypothesis and accurate analysis.
Using screenshots with annotations to highlight findings.
(Report): Data visualization:
Show the data (which normally come from the pivot table you have operated) used for the visualization.
Using screenshots with annotations to highlight your findings.
(Report): Summarize your interesting 5 findings from the data
Match the BI strategy
Interesting suggestions.
