article that you brought to class for group
discussion. The purpose of your essay is to
note whether or not the article passes the
CRAAP test and can be considered an
authoritative source.

major CRAAP test components that
you looked at in order to determine
the worth of the source.
2. Be sure to cite specific details from
the article to illustrate your points.
3. Use the CRAAP handout as a guide
for the things to look for as you
evaluate the article you found.
4. In your introduction, be sure to note
what question you were trying to
answer.
5. Be sure to explain what the CRAAP
test is if you reference it in your
paper.
6. In the body, be sure to offer the
answer to your question (if your
article does, indeed, answer the
question). If the article does not
answer the question, then explain
what’s missing from the article.
7. Cite your article using current MLA
format. (Also, be sure to cite the
CRAAP test if you reference it in
your essay.) A Works Cited page
should appear at the end of your
essay. Use your MLA section of the

Introduction: Introduce the question you
were researching and the type of source
you were hoping to find as you performed
your Internet search for information. Your
thesis can explain whether or not your
resource passed the CRAAP test, or you
can create another thesis and wait until the
end of the paper to note if the source
passed the test.
Body: Explain the three major components
(from the CRAAP test) that you looked at to
evaluate the site and discuss why/how the
source did or did not pass each component
of the test that you looked at. Be sure to
offer specific details from the article to
support your observations.
Conclusion: Summarize your findings by
noting the source’s degree of usefulness.
