will be analyzing McDonald’s (The Fast Food McDonald’s) The analysis of

Please follow the following RUBRIC closely in formatting your paper in specific sections addressing each specific topic.
Throughout
this semester you will have the opportunity to learn various aspects of
strategic management and to apply that knowledge to analyzing business
cases. The McDonald’s strategic analysis will provide you with another
opportunity to apply the knowledge that you gained in other business
courses at Grand View and the knowledge that you gained during this
semester to analyze strategic decisions faced by the top management of
the company. In making strategic recommendations to the top management
of McDonald’s you should analyze the company by following the outline
below. The answers to each of the items listed below must be
substantiated by the theoretical frameworks that you will be learning
throughout the semester, and with research from external sources.
1. History
Briefly
describe McDonald’s history including the major milestones and
including more recent developments in the company’s operations. (10
points)
2. Internal Company Analysis
In
analyzing this section you should utilize the elements of Strengths and
Weaknesses from the SWOT analysis and elements of value chain analysis.
Also, please remember to utilize elements from the course including the
following sequence: resources, capabilities, core competencies, and
competitive advantages. This analysis should include the majority of the
functional aspects of the company. (25 points)
3. Environmental Analysis
Describe
the environmental forces that have or might have an impact on
McDonald’s operations. These forces might include economic, political,
cultural, technological and other environmental forces. (25 points)
4. Industry Analysis
Using Porter’s Five Force Model, provide a detailed analysis of the fast food industry where McDonald’s competes. (25 points)
5. Competitor Analysis
Provide
a detailed analysis of McDonald’s main competitors. Be sure to discuss
how these competitors are positioned in the industry and discuss the
strengths and weaknesses of their strategies. (25 points)
6. Financial Analysis
Using
research you should present the major financial indicators (total
revenue, net income, stock price, etc.) and explain whether the company
is improving its performance. In addition, you should compare McDonald’s
in these aspects to its major competitors and to the average for the
industry. (10 points)
7. Recommendations
Based
on the analysis that you provided in points 2 through 6 above, provide
recommendations to McDonalds’s CEO regarding the course of action or
actions they should pursue. In making your recommendations, please make
sure that you explain how various functions of the organization would be
impacted as a result of the suggested course of action. Please be
specific in your recommendations. (30 points)
The project will be graded on the following criteria:
1.
Ability to effectively conduct research and effectively process and
present the information in writing. You should utilize at least five
research sources.
2.
Ability to properly present the research information in writing. The
paper should be organized in a logical format with headings and
subheadings and should be free of grammar and spelling errors. The pages
should be numbered and if exhibits used, all exhibits in the paper
should be properly titled and numbered. If exhibits are included in
appendix they should be properly referenced in the paper. Research
sources should be included at the end of the paper and should be
properly cited in the paper.
3.
Ability to properly conduct the internal and external analysis of
McDonald’s and recommend a course of action that will incorporate
various functional aspects of the company.
