Some regard true crime writing as as valid as any other kind of literature; others regard it as lurid trash. What are your feelings about the genre? Give examples in your response.
Write a paper on the relationship between true crime and fairy tales, using specific examples.
Write a paper tracing and interpreting a criminal case that has been made into a documentary. Suggest some of the reasons this case has been transmitted and spread, and describe the process leading up to the film.
Write a paper that analyzes the role of women in relation to true crime.
Choose two examples of true crime writing and discuss the differences and similarities between these manifestations.
If you write a paper, it should be a minimum of four pages in length, typed, with full bibliographic citations. Points will be awarded for a carefully structured argument, creative thought, the appropriate use of secondary sources, evidence of careful research, original ideas, and accuracy in spelling and grammar. Points will be deducted for loose structure, lack of careful thinking, a poorly structured argument, bad writing, lack of research, and inaccuracies in spelling and grammar. You should use MLA or Chicago citation format.
