Assignment – Artist / Artwork of Importance
1. You will choose a piece of artwork or an artist that speaks to you – strongly and deeply.
2. You will submit a three (3)
part submission about the chosen artwork/artist. Point #11.
3. Introduce the artwork / artist (artist, years active, title, medium, artwork etc…)
4. Is the piece a painting, photograph, drawing, lithograph, screen print, video or… What medium(s) does your chosen artist work in? Actor, dancer, musician etc…
5. Tell us clearly what you are presenting and WHY.
6. RESEARCH: The artist – who are they? Where were they born? Any interesting facts about the artist? Researching the artist can be done in books, online and through any others sources you may wish to access. Look at samples of other work. These exact same research methods can be used for researching a piece of art.
7. Understand the artwork / artist – take detailed notes when researching.
8. What new knowledge have you gained through your research?
9. PUT EVERYTHING IN YOUR OWN WORDS – not Wikipedia or Google etc…
10. For your research (books, online, gallery visit etc…) please keep a list of sources used and provide that list when you email in the assignment.
11. IMPORTANT: The 3 parts are:
a): In POINT FORM – one sheet handwritten OR typed with information about your chosen artist / artwork.
b): Send me one (1) YouTube link, VIMEO link, Website link or Google Image of your chosen artist / artwork. (Just ONE of the above).
c): Handwrite or type a strong 2 paragraph conclusion about your artist / artwork.
12. IMPORTANT – assignment should be: well-structured, great visuals, clearly handwritten or typed and excellent knowledge of material. PowerPoints are welcome but not required– be creative with your presentation. 15% of your total mark
