In the last several years, there has been an increased focus among some politicians, government groups, and members of the public on controlling the US/Mexican border. Additional border control agents and increased surveillance are two strategies employed in an attempt to keep undocumented immigrants from entering the United States.
In additional official government activities, a number of vigilante-type individuals have formed their own groups (for example, the Minutemen) to patrol land near the border. These groups believe that too many undocumented immigrants (especially, in their view, drug users and drug traffickers) are getting into the United States and that governmental agencies are too lax in securing the country’s borders.
Research this issue and create a post using at least one theoretical perspective. Discuss reasons why you believe increased surveillance and additional border control agents are, or are not necessary. Include citations in APA format for any resources you utilized in your research.
