P‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌resentation (10 marks): Select one or two chapters/sections from the novel you are reading and craft a short 5-7 minute presentation summarizing the key events and explaining their relevance to the novel in terms of literary technique and theme. In other words, your presentation will give the KEY EVENT OF THE CHAPTER, will EXPLAIN SOME OF THE LITERARY ELEMENTS and will RELATE this section to the NOVEL’S OVERALL THEMES. You may wish to create a brief slideshow (e.g., PowerPoint) so you can show quotes, etc., but this is not required. Begin your presentation with a clear summary of your assigned section and a relatively formal explanation of your findings. Discuss the aspects of this section that stand out to you the most — this will differ depending on your novel and the section you’re presenting on. For example, if your chapter contains a lot of character development, discuss and provide examples of this; if your section contains a lot of imagery and symbolism, then this is what you could focus on. Do your best to connect these ideas to the theme(s) of the novel. Wrap up your presentation by posing TWO ‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌THOUGHTFUL QUESTIONS to your peers: 1. For your first question, ask them to find examples/evidence (quotations) in the novel. For example, if you discuss a certain theme in your presentation, ask your peers to find a short quote with evidence of that theme. 2. Your second question should help expand the conversation around the novel. You can ask anything you wish, but it should be something that makes your peers think deeply, reflect, and/or connect with your section of the novel. Peer Replies (10 marks): this second part will be messaged as and when my peers post their two questions each You are REQUIRED TO REPLY TWO of your peers on the discussion board, answering both of their questions. Hopefully, you have been thinking deeply about the novel and annotating as you’ve been reading it, so you will likely have some notes/examples to turn to. I am assuming about 750 for the 5-7 minutes presentation and the rest for answering the peer questions. Hence, you can submit the presentation (1st part ) when done, then later, when the 2nd part is messaged to you and you are done answering, you submit‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌.
