Drama Essay (“A Midsummers Dream”)

The word “dream” has two relevant meanings in the play: (1) an imaginary event that occurs
while sleeping, and (2) the hope, ambition, or aspiration that motivates a person’s actions.
Explore the occurrences of both kinds of “dream” (and include in your investigation the
synonymous word “vision”). That universal dream about love and marriage lies at the center of
the play? (See Oberon’s blessing at the end of 5.1 and Puck’s jingle about Jack and Jill at
3.3.458-63).

which are imposed upon the lovers by outside forces, and which arise from within the lovers’
own feelings? Do the external or the internal obstacles play a larger role?

All sources must have authors. Use the VAL (Alabama Virtual Library).
Word Count – 1200 words (Works Cited does not count in this total, so you should be over 1000
words).
