It does not need figures, only text, at this point. You should be starting with an introduction, setting the story. What background information does the reader need to know about to know what you are doing here? Pretend you are a narrator at the beginning of a movie – what do we need to know? Remember that your audience is your classmates, and they are non-science students who don’t know the meaning of complicated scientific jargon.
Then you will have your 3 sub-topics, I gave you 3 sub-topics to use in the “topic choices” section of this handout. If you wish to propose alternative sub-topics, 2 of them must be geoscientific sub-topics and the third can be about social/political/economic things if you prefer that to a third geoscientific sub-topic
Give each sub-topic a short, jazzy sub-title that will attract readers. Each sub-topic needs to be clearly differentiated from the others. Each sub-topic needs to be clearly related to the main topic. Your rough draft will be approximately 3-5 pages, single spaced, plus references.
