Step 2: In the first part of your essay, you will map out the conversation between the two sources. Mapping out the conversation means finding the common threads of topics and main ideas you see in both sources, usually by comparing and contrasting how two sources approach a shared theme. While the writers may have different areas of focus in their arguments, they are all engaged in an ongoing conversation about character education in America.
Step 3: You will also share your take on character education. After (or as) you map out the conversation of what has already been said by the two sources, you will begin to enter into this conversation.

Your essay must be at least 3 pages in length.
It should be thesis-driven, well organized, and in MLA format.
It should include a Works Cited page.
You are encouraged to focus on two sources; however, you may include one other source if you would like, including a related TED Talk. (Click on “transcript” to view the TED Talk speech.) For the purpose of this essay, DO NOT use the Internet for additional research.
