Scholarly Paper: Concept Paper Assignment • Scholarly writing and use of APA (7th ed.) format, referencing, and order of documents.
• Word count: 1300 to 1500 words (excluding title page, and reference list).
• Should the paper exceed the 1500 words the rest will not be graded and marks will be
deducted for missing content/criteria within the 1500 maximum word count, as well as
non-adherence to instructions regarding the maximum word limit
• A minimum of 4 current references (2017 to 2022) published in peer reviewed nursing
journals and 1 other current scholarly/peer reviewed reference that can be from another
discipline (the 5 minimum references cannot be part of the course required
readings). The Four nursing references must be research papers from a peer
reviewed nursing journal.
• Additional references may include gray literature from a Canadian professional
nursing organization.

Use of scholarly literature
• Integration of literature is apparent and woven appropriately throughout paper
• Minimum of four (4) current (2017-2022) scholarly nursing references from
nursing peer reviewed journals. A 5th reference must be current, peer-reviewed
but not necessarily nursing-based. Beyond the minimum of five current
scholarly references (not part of the course required readings), other relevant
resources may include (but not limited to) government sites or grey literature,
literature from professional associations (eg., CNA, CNO, RNAO), etc.
• Some concepts may have seminal work published prior to 2017 and this work
should be included
• Primary sources are (cited) used as references in the paper
