Comparisn between one rock and one rap artist

Choose one rock and one rap artist (i.e.
band/singer/group/etc!) and discuss their influence on our society and
overall significance to popular music. Explain why you believe these
artists are timeless and not just a passing trend. Compare and contrast
them and make connections between these two worlds of music.
Be sure to include references to their music (specifics!)
Length: 1,000 words
(Gen Ed classes at MSU require 2,000 words a semester. Your remaining 1,000 words are divided among your other assignments.)

Biographical data is great, but concise arguments are more effective.
Write about why rather than what. You’re not limited to someone we’ve discussed in class; in fact, I encourage everyone to look elsewhere!
Also, try not to use filler words like “definitely,”
“literally,” or “actually” anywhere in your paper. As always, avoid
colloquial speech and slang. You are writing a paper for an academic
course, not for a blog.
Example of a possible format:
Introduce your artists and summarize your topic. State what
you are writing about in your thesis statement, and provide a clear
summary from which you are going to build.
Discuss artist 1.
Provide examples of their music and contribution to society. Focus on one topic per paragraph.

Provide examples of their music and contribution to society. Focus on one topic per paragraph.
Wrap everything up. Make connections between the two artists.
How you will be graded:
Did you vouch for the timelessness of these two artists?
Did you include (and cite) specific data and quotes? (Not just hearsay like “People think that…” or “Everyone loves…”)
Are you concise and not rambling? 1,000 words doesn’t mean to fill
space with unnecessary, redundant, and tautological phrases. Stay
focused on your topic, and make a clear argument!
