. Poe’s “The Black Cat” and “The
Tell-Tale Heart” are individual confessions of two murderers. What does the
manipulative narrator of “The Black Cat” want to prove? What does the narrator
of “the Tell-Tale Heart” want to prove? Your answers to both questions will
become your thesis statement and the central claim of your analytical paper. In
your analysis of each narrator’s story, while proving your thesis statement,
also show that both confessing murderers do not feel remorse and deserve what
they each got. Towards the end of analyzing each story (last paragraph on Story
1 and last paragraph on Story 2), demonstrate that both narrators are
subconsciously in denial of their guilty conscience. Present concrete examples,
describe relevant situations, continuously incorporate, and explain direct
textual evidence (direct MLA citations). I only want a 3 page essay on the The black cat by poe, and just cite poe as a source. I will be attaching everything that you can read in case you have questions.
