Your rough draft of The Definition Essay must be submitted before midnight by Thursday 3/16/22 through this post.
It must be at least 3 full pages OR more of your draft, double-spaced, 12 size font, Times New Roman. Please review The Definition Essay prompt posted in Week 7.
Once all students have submitted their rough drafts, Canvas will at midnight place you in a Workshop/Peer Review group of 3-4 participants where you will provide each other feedback for the revision process.
You can leave feedback in the “Comments” section. Your feedback should be a minimum of two paragraphs per each essay. You can use these peer review questions to guide you:
1.) In your own words, what is the author’s argument? Is it stated clearly as an argumentative and debatable thesis and not as an informative thesis statement?
2.) How does the essay make use of definition strategies explained in Chapter 11 of Elements of Argument? How successful is the author’s attempt to define important topic words and key terms in order to frame the overall argument?
3.) Does the author do a thorough job of addressing counterarguments and refuting them? Keep in mind that an argumentative essay must address and refute counterarguments.
4.) Does the author make use of rhetorical concepts we have learned through class activities, discussions, and PowerPoint presentations?
5.) Are there any areas or examples that are particularly good and make the paper stronger?
6.) How can the essay improve?
