These are the review questions for the second week. Your answers are graded on completeness and accuracy of content. Be sure to answer all parts of the question (if applicable), and do not assume that I know what you are talking about. Be as descriptive and thorough as possible. While there is no ‘required’ length, a good standard measure is approximately 100 words per question. You will not be able to answer these successfully in just one or two sentences.
For questions that refer to the readings, it is always a good idea to quote material that supports your answers. If you are using quotes, be sure to explain how they help your point (don’t assume that the quote will justify itself).
Using examples will also help. If you cannot seem to explain something, try using an example. This will demonstrate that you understand the material.
1. What do you think of Plato’s account of the prisoners in the cave allegory? Do you think that we are like those prisoners in some way? Why or why not?
2. Aristotle is critical of Plato’s metaphysics. How does he respond to Plato’s theory of the Forms?
3. How would you describe your view of metaphysics? Do you think there are different ‘levels of reality’ (like Plato)? Or, are you more inclined to follow someone like Aristotle? Why?
