Lived Experiences of Domestic Violence by Women in Qatar: A Phenomenological Study of Victims’ Perceptions of their Perpetrator and Cultural Context of their Abuse

D‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌ear writer (Preferred writer) Good day IRB requested to fill the Form D: “IRB APPLICATION TO CONDUCT A STUDY THAT IS MORE THAN MINIMAL RISK, INVOLVES VULNERABLE POPULATIONS, AND/OR INVOLVES SENSITIVE DATA COLLECTION”. Please see below the three last emails: Email 1) my email to IRB answering their question about Aman center (regarding shelter/temporary lodging services to women). Email 2) IRB response and request to me. Email 3) my chairperson and her instruction based on IRB feedback and request. Attached 2 documents: 1) the filled Form C, and the Form D. Email (#3) from my chairperson to me: “Hello LK, Go ahead and work on what the IRB is requesting and send to me so I can help you. Here is what you need to do: 1. For #15 on Form C , put the question for #15 in a WORD document and answer the question the best that you can. 2. Complete the IRB form D. Please send your drafts of these to me” Email (#2), from IRB to me: “Hi LK, Thank you for providing this additional information. Because the organization you are recruiting from offers shelter services, this does increase the risks to participants (given a higher level of dependency on the site’s services) and your study will need to be reviewed by the full board. We will need some additional information in order to fully assess the risks relative to the potential study benefits. Thus, please complete Form D, and update your response to question #15 of Form C. We will file‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌ your other IRB materials until we receive the updated Form C, and completed Form D. Sincerely,” Email (#1), from me to IRB answering their question: “Dear Libby, Thank you for the response and follow-up. I contacted the team of Aman center and discussed with them the IRB questions. The Head of Rehabilitative Services of Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre, Mrs. Sabika Al-Nassr (Aman Center), and Dr. Wael Mahmoud, the psychiatrist in the protection and rehabilitation department at Aman Center confirmed the following: Aman Center does offer shelter/temporary lodging services to women who are attempting to leave their abuser. Regarding the eligibility of the women who are in the shelter, according to Mrs. Sabika Al-Nassr, based on the results of the Biopsychosocial System assessment, there are some women who meet the eligibility of my study. But those who did not meet the eligibility, according to Dr. Wael Mahmoud, will not allow to participate in any research. Please note that the target population for this research is women above the age of 18 years living in Qatar who have experienced IPV/VAW as an adult. I will purposively choose the individuals who do not have a legal case pending. I will also choose only the individuals with stable mental health. In this study, stable mental health refers to the presence of none of the following in the previous six months: suicidal ideation or behavior, manic episode, or psychosis‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌. Best regards,”
