Project Scope
Four dialogue writing exercises are included below. Pick two of them and write out a dialogue sequence or a summary of a conversation between two people. Share your dialogue sequence in this Discussion for review. Review a minimum of two of your classmates’ submissions, and provide substantive feedback. Review comments on your own dialogue sequence. Note: You must post first before you will be able to see the posts of your classmates.

Mandatory Elements
For exercise 1, listen to a conversation between at least two people. The conversation can be from a movie, people talking in a mall, or in a restaurant.

Transcribe the conversation to the best of your ability.
Write a summary of what the conversation was about (1-2 pages in length, with 1.5 line spacing).
Identify any subtext in the conversation. Were there things said that may have meant something different than the actual words used?
Conclude with a summary of what you learned from the conversations.
For exercise 2, write a dialogue sequence based on one of the choices in your exercise.

Write a short story (3 pages in length, with 1.5 line spacing).
Apply the scene structure and dialogue tips in writing the short.
Both assignments should include a title page with your name, the course name, current semester, and assignment name.

Dialogue Exercises
1. Listen in on other conversations.

It may sound crazy, but people say things differently. Listen to the conversation. Explain the “real” meaning of the conversation, and what was really said.
