How can character’s behavior, narrative events, and/or images be explained in terms of psycho analytic concepts of any kind?

What unconscious motives are operating in the characters, and how do these motives inform the story? How can character’s behavior, narrative events, and/or images be explained in terms of psycho analytic concepts of any kind? In what ways can we view a literary work as analogous to a dream? In other words, how might dream symbols reveal ways in which the narrator is projecting his or her unconscious desires, fears, or unresolved conflicts onto other characters? What does this work suggest about the psychological being of its author? What might a given interpretation of a literary work suggest about the psychological motives of the reader?
