Exercise: Art-Making and Writing

Art-Making (submit photographs and written text on Canvas)
Photographic seeing is different than our everyday modes of seeing. The camera helps us (among much else) focus, edit, remember, and investigate our lives and the world around us. Develop a new photographic practice: come up with an idea or system for what to photograph and do so at regular intervals – e.g. every hour or every day. You must have at least 5 photographs. In a short paragraph, describe your photographic process and describe what you learned and noticed at the end of the assignment.
Writing (submit Word Doc/images to Canvas)
Imagine you are asked to curate a small exhibition. Select five different artworks discussed in the textbook or in class. Propose an exhibition that ties these artworks together. In one paragraph, describe the exhibition idea. In another paragraph, describe how the artworks are linked together under this idea. In the last paragraph, describe why this exhibition is important and should be seen. Include images of your chosen artwork as attachments or in the PDF/Word Doc.
