You can write an essay about an important event in your life and show how it impacted you.
Tell the story of what happened in such a way that your readers can see that you have thought seriously about the event, its significance to you, and why an audience might be interested in reading about it. Your audience is your instructor and this class, a collection of interested and diverse readers who do not know you well. Think of this essay as a way to share something important about yourself.
Style, Length, and Related Matters. Although this is an academic assignment intended for an audience of myself and your classmates, it is somewhat less formal than other assignments in this course. So, you have some latitude in adopting a style and approach that feels appropriate for your subject matter, your audience, and the intended purpose of the assignment (as explained above). Be mindful of the conventions of written English(academic grammar and punctuation) and the expectations of your audience.
