From our textbook Of Mice and Magic by Leonard Maltin, complete the assigned reading, then post your response to this prompt:
In the animation industry’s boom period following the success of Gertie the Dinosaur in 1914, there were several technological
innovations created by animators like John Randolph Bray to increase productivity. Of all these early innovations, which 2 were the most
important, and why?
Your response to this prompt should be a short essay of 2-3 paragraphs of at least 5-7 sentences each. Be sure to include at least 1 quote
from the textbook for each innovation you discuss, and cite the page number from which you find the quote. For example, within your answer, a quote should be formatted like this:
Paul Barre’s slash system was an important innovation, in which “the animation paper was cut or “slashed” at the dividing line between stationary objects and the movement” (p. 11).
After posting your essay, be sure to reply to the posts of two of your classmates. Peer responses should have substance to them in order to earn the full 10 points (see the rubric for the point breakdown). Please avoid simple “I agree” replies.
