You will choose any aspect of society (e.g., economy, architecture, food ways, social organization, ritual, monumentality, etc.) discussed in the textbook or in lecture and compare it across space and time throughout the human history of North America, focusing on the similarities and contrasts between two chosen culture areas. You will also discuss the social, historical, and environmental reasons that you believe account for differences observed among the societies that you choose to highlight in your paper.
Societies Chosen:
•Great Basin society and Late East Archaic society
•looking into their social organization, shell rings, and hunter gathers aspects.
•For undergraduates, this will contain at least 10 sources
•Along with the compilation of your annotated bibliography, you will create and submit a detailed outline of your paper. This outline will include more than the basic structural elements of a paper; your outline will need to include summary thesis statements for each section (e.g., introduction, body sections, discussion, proposed methods, conclusion, etc. as relevant) and a general ordering of your intended sources within these sections.
