Legal Environment of Business – Social Justice Case Study Paper
Grading Criteria:
• Your paper must have a cover page that includes the title of the assignment, your
name, and the date. The body of the paper (which does not include title page or
reference page) must be at least two pages in length (500 words) and doublespaced. Please include a separate reference page. Max 25 points
• You must include a minimum of two sources. Of course, you may use more than
two. Your references cannot include your textbook or the references that I have
provided as starting research. An effective and in-depth use of these sources
must be evident with proper APA formatting of references in the reference
section. Further, use of in-text citations when paraphrasing or quoting directly
must be evident. Points will be deducted when citations and references are not in
proper format and/or not used where it is evident that citations are needed. Max

• The body of your paper must adequately answer and develop the main points
outlined below – course terms/vocabulary should be applied appropriately and
examples should be used to illustrate the topics below. Max 25 points

they’re must be used properly or points will be deducted. Paper should appear to

The world has seen significant changes in 2020, and social justice issues are at the
center of the world’s focus right now. Examples of current social justice issues can
include: racial injustice, climate change, healthcare access and inequalities in
healthcare outcomes, gender income gap, food insecurity, or refugees. You can also
focus on another social justice issue, as this list is not meant to be exhaustive.
Select a company (domestic or international) that will be the basis of your research.
Research the company’s record for dealing with social justice in the past year (2020)
issues and answer the following:
1. A brief (one-paragraph) summary of the business you selected and what their
focus on social justice is.
2. According to your research, how has this company worked to make a difference
with social justice issues, and is it making a difference?
3. Describe specific examples of corporate actions incorporating concepts that you
have learned in at least two courses such as business law/legal environment,
accounting, economics, international business, marketing, finance, and
management that likely contributed to this company’s decision to be actively
involved in social justice issues.
4. Why would a company care about social justice?
5. Should companies care about social justice issues and why or why not?
6. Does a company’s approach to social justice influence your purchasing
decisions? Why or why not?
