Submit: Evidence-Based Practice Paper: Pain Assessment and
Management

Nurses in a variety of care settings will encounter clients
experiencing pain. Nurses are responsible for reviewing available
evidence-based guidelines and journals to determine appropriate interventions.
You will demonstrate the ability to synthesize information from the literature
to describe evidence-based assessment and management of pain for seriously ill
clients in a 3-page paper.
Instructions:
Part
1: Write 3 pages (excluding cover page and references) using APA format on
how to approach pain assessment and management using evidence-based
practice guidelines.

Include
the following:

Describe
types of pain and pathology.
Describe
how pain affects clients: physically, emotionally, socially, and
spiritually.
Discuss
how to complete an assessment of pain, including describing the etiology
and pain assessment tools. Include both verbal and nonverbal pain
assessment at end of life.
Discuss
pain management interventions, including pharmacologic and
nonpharmacologic options.
Describe
the importance of reassessment for the efficacy of administration of pharmacologic
intervention.
Identify
alternative and complementary therapies that may be used for pain
management.
