This below is some extra extra spesific Clarifications.

Make sure you follow all the directions closely. Often students lose points simply because they do not follow directions, or do not read them at all. First identify the location, then identify the tectonic boundary there, and then explain it fully. You should know how to describe any plate boundary. This is done in lecture. Please write only about the plate boundary circled, especially for number 2.
Number 2 –> Most important answer: In term of directions, when I say, for instance, that the paper should be about 80% your answer to question number 2, I really mean it (see image below). The tectonic regime/boundary should be fully developed, more than anything else (many students seem not to pay attention to this detail). So, if I say to write down everything you know from lectures about that plate boundary type, once you identify it, then look over your notes/lectures for everything related to it. In other words, tell me everything you know about how this plate boundary works (recall there are 3 plate boundaries and they all do different things: Conv, Div, Trans). The Plate Tectonics lectures should help a lot with this, and so will basic Earthquakes/Volcanoes, but this is mostly the Tectonics lectures. It’s really a matter of writing down everything I say almost verbatim. Also, don’t tell me what other boundaries this area is not; tell me what it is. Please refer to the map and to the lectures; information from outside sources is very easy to spot and leads to lower grades…
Mass Wasting questions: The images in the last questions match very, very closely those shown in lecture on Mass Wasting, if not the same (there are no surprises). So, look closely for those too. This is in the very first lecture on Mass Wasting. Look at that lecture again. (This part of the paper will not be a major part of your grade.)
Few things to note: You can go over the min word limit of 500 (total for the paper) if your answers are correct and pertinent. Don’t be repetitive, and stick to the point of the questions. Do not include the questions in your answers. In terms of the “similarity score”, many students will include such wording, or very common wording from lecture, which means that your plagiarism score will be higher. I can detect who truly plagiarizes, however (whole sentences and whole paragraphs), so don’t worry about words that are repetitive amongst the class.
