We will do an exercise where you write two letters, neither of which you will mail. Each letter should be at least 3 paragraphs or longer. Please share only information you are willing to share. Letters come directly to me.
One letter is where you are the parent and you are writing to your child’s teacher. Here are some questions to get you started with the letter:
What would you want the teacher to know about you and your family?
How would you like to be treated?
How would you like to help the teacher or the classroom?
What limitations do you have (your job, your time, your family)
What might you like the teacher to do to help you and your child?
The second letter is where you are the teacher and you are writing a letter to the parents. Here are some questions to help get you started:
What do you want the parents to know about you? What particular boundaries do you want to set?
What are some things you would like your parents to do in the classroom?
What do you want them to know about your teaching style and your guidance style and how you view children?
