In preparation for the Summative Part B Assignment, you are required to submit 5-7 sentences clearly defining the focus of your summative project. One of these sentences should be your hypothesis and, another, your prediction statement. You also must include FOUR of the EIGHT research articles you will be using for your research proposal.
**2nd Part is due Friday June 25th before 9:30pm
Final Summative Assignment:
Length: 7 to 8 pages excluding the cover page, abstract, and reference pages, double-spaced, formatted in APA style.
Cover Page: containing Title of Paper, Running Head, Your Name, Course Number and Name, Professor’s Name, and Date.
Abstract: 5 to 7 sentence summary of the content and purpose of the research proposal; briefly describe the problem under investigation, the hypothesis, the method and essentials about the variables, and a prediction of the findings (Keep voice in 3rd person: avoid “I think I will find…”; try “The predicted outcome of this study is…”)
Literature Review: The first 3 to 5 pages of the paper are a review of previous research on your chosen topic. Discuss the background, importance, and relevance of the topic. Must include 8 peer-reviewed journal articles (You can use the articles from the Annotated Bibliography). Two of these 8 articles MUST BE related to an area of diversity. At the end of this section, also include a statement of the hypothesis, independent and dependent variables, your operational definition and prediction of outcome.
Method Section: The last 2 to 3 pages are the revised Methods section, including Participants, Materials/Equipment, and Procedures designated by subheadings. Be as detailed as possible. If you do not revise this section, you will be marked down.
End the Methods section with a concluding paragraph re-summarizing the background, hypothesis, and prediction and why your research study is important to the area you intend to investigate. In other words, explain how the proposed research furthers the field on your chosen topic and brings new light to the subject.
Remember, this proposal must be in the form of an Experimental or Quasi-Experimental design, meaning there should be clearly outlined independent and dependent variables, and a clear procedure of manipulating the independent variable and measuring the outcome or dependent variable.
Instructions:
Being that this project is a proposal for research, this section must be written in future tense – what you plan to do for research.
Do not include hypothetical or made-up results, only a prediction of the outcome. (Do your best to keep the voice in 3rd person in this section as well: avoid “I will recruit participants from…”; try “Participants will be recruited from…”)
References: At least EIGHT peer-reviewed journal articles, reference page formatted according to APA style. This may include the original study, Bandura, Ross, and Ross’s (1961) study, Transmission of aggression through imitation of aggressive models.
Citations of all EIGHT research articles must be included in the research proposal AND the reference page. Make sure that the articles on your reference page are all included in the proposal and that all cited studies an author’s are included in the reference page.

Abstract is formatted properly on its own page; brief, concise, descriptive summary of study topic, hypothesis, method, and predicted outcome.
2. Literature Review – 55 points
Introduction is thoughtfully developed, relevance and importance of study is clear, highly competent description of previous research in application to current study, Hypothesis and prediction are clearly articulated.
3. Method Section – 30 points
Project demonstrates strong, in-depth approach to experimental research on selected topic, all parts of Method Section are fully and articulately explained.
4. Synthsis of Course Material- 40 points
Clearly synthesizes course material in completing the project; displays excellent use of significant concepts/ideas presented in the course.
5. Use of References – 20 points
Compelling and proficient evidence from peer- reviewed journal articles are used to support current study; minimal number of references met.
6. Citations- 15 poins
Excels at citation requirements, citations included where necessary. Errors are at a minimum and all citations also appear on the reference page. Good citation formatting.
