Your manager recently presented you with a dataset and asked you to analyze and present it to
the management team in April. You know nothing about the dataset or why the data was
collected in the first place. Yikes! All your manager gave you was the survey that was used and
the dataset. Luckily, someone has already organized the spreadsheet with the data and
provided you with a legend. Where to start? You gather a group of colleagues and try to sort
through the documents you were given. After your initial meeting you decide to present the
following to your manager:
1. The research question that guided the survey
2. Descriptive statistics
3. Four hypotheses
4. Inferential statistics (to answer your hypotheses)
You then remember that there is someone in a different department who used to work with
your manager. You double-check that colleague because they seemed to know what the
manager expected in the past and always seemed to be on the ball. You ask them what they
think of your strategy to tackle this vague project. Your colleague gives you the following
