This is the proposal I had “While obesity and poor health are some serious issues facing people living in America, we cannot legislate mandatory eating and exercise programs. You could propose the government provide incentives to people who adopt a healthy eating lifestyle, and that could come in the way of reduced fees for gym membership, and there could be penalties, like higher insurance costs, for those who refuse to make positive lifestyle changes. Additionally, eating healthy meals can be quite costly and often not an option for the exact population needing that food. You could propose financial incentives be provided for farmers to grow organic vegetables and avoid GMOs. Those costs would then be passed on to the consumer. You also could propose curriculum changes in K-12 schools requiring education on healthy foods and benefits of exercising.”
RESEARCH PAPER GUIDELINES
Please be sure your research paper meets all of the criteria:
The paper must be argumentative.
You must have your topic approved by submitting to the appropriate submission box when it becomes available. Read carefully the instructions for that proposal submission,
The paper must be MLA format. Check your margins, spacing, parenthetical documentation, etc.
You must have a cover page; neither the cover nor the works cited page count toward the length requirement.
Use a standard font and a font size of 12 throughout the paper.
Turn in the paper to the CANVAS drop box.
The paper must contain between 2,500 – 3,500 words (app. 8 – 10 pages).
Double space throughout the paper, including the works cited page.
Use an appropriate header for the paper making sure the header extends onto the works cited page.
Take the time to see a tutor with your paper after you have printed it out, edited it yourself, and before you submit it.
BE SURE TO FOLLOW THE EXPECTATIONS OF WRITTEN WORK, and refer to the rubric on the essay to see how the paper will be evaluated in addition to the research paper evaluation sheet below.

I will not accept late research papers for any reason. You have been working on these papers for several weeks, and there is no excuse for not having them submitted on time.

the paper reflects inadequate elements of argument,
the paper does not meet the word count requirement,
the topic is deemed inappropriate and/or wasn’t approved by me,
the paper does not have proper MLA formatting,
the paper does not have appropriate in-text citations,
the paper reflects use of non-standard English,
the paper reflects weak, careless, or inadequate editing,
URL addresses or .com, .edu, .gov, etc. appear in the in-text citations, or
the paper reflects any degree of academic dishonesty.
