Description: A critical essay presents a thorough, focused analysis of a literary work(s), theme, technique, genre, or other such topic. Based on ideas from discussion, your critical reviews, and/or your reading, select a topic that interests you. The topic’s scope may be as broad as “Images of Love in Renaissance Literature” or as narrow as “Irony in Sidney’s Astrophil and Stella.” You may analyze one or several works within or across genres. Please ask me about ideas or questions you have as you consider topics.
Construct a thesis and then provide the “evidence” for it, drawing from your reasoning, the text(s), and any outside research you may want to incorporate; however, secondary research is NOT required. Make full use of any relevant discussion posts and summary-responses if you wish.
