What to do about Environmental Degradation & its Health Effects?
We’ve talked a lot this term about the individuation of responsibility, and about the corollary proposition that just because something is a structural problem, that doesn’t mean you just sit back and wring your hands and wail. Let’s turn that position onto the question of the how environmental degradation damages health: What can you do?
What are some options for making our environment (your home, your neighborhood, the world) a healthier place?
You may choose to approach this from a very focused perspective—what you can do about your apartment, your bathroom products, your cleaning products, your children–but if you do, you’ll need to think about how that does or doesn’t fit into the individuation of responsibility. Or you may think back to our early module about grass-roots efforts to change problems with the world: what can you do about / for your community/city/county/state/country/world?
As before, this Thought Experiment can take the form of an info-graphic of some sort, a game, a poster, a Powerpoint/Prezi* presentation, a website, a video, or some other form that combines the verbal and visual. (For fun, try something new this time that you haven’t done before!) It should represent work about equivalent to a 250 – 500 word (1-2 page) paper, but should involve some research (this might include some “real-world” research). Creativity and research will be rewarded!
