More than ever before, today’s workplace demands leaders who have high degrees of emotional intelligence. And while it is important to learn the theory behind emotional intelligence, as you did in this module, it is even more important to think about how you observe and experience emotional intelligence in action. This assignment allows you to construct meaning around the theory, so you can see the impact of the concepts in your own life.

Your responses to the questions below will be very personal and each student’s answers will be truly unique. You will be graded on two criteria:
Sharing specific, detailed examples and experiences from your own life. We are not looking for “textbook” answers, professional language or essays. We want you to tell us stories from your own life.
Application of concepts from module content. When sharing your examples and stories, we are looking for you to tie in some of the concepts reviewed in the module. We will assess how well you understood the content by how well you can relate the terms, ideas and concepts to your own experiences.
To complete the assignment, please answer the following questions in the padlet below. You may choose to record a video response or respond in text format.

Questions
Of the eight multiple intelligences, which one(s) is your strength? Which ones do you need to improve? Why do you feel this way?
Think about a very strong or a very weak leader you have interacted with. The leader could be a boss, teacher, coach or mentor. What characteristics made them a great leader or a poor leader? Be sure to apply the concepts from the module.
Describe a time when you have been shown empathy in a work or school situation. How did receiving the empathy make you feel?
As you move forward in your career and become a leader, what are three specific things you commit to doing (or not doing) in order to be a leader with a high “EQ”?

one of the example of answer :

1. Interpersonal intelligence is more precious for me because it helps me a lot, as well as, assists me to communicate with people effectively. It is fruitful for me to understand their needs and expectations which makes me comfortable in front of them. I want to improve my mathematical intelligence because I am a little bit in it. If I am becoming able in this, it helps me to calculate money and It will also help me in my future career. It makes me perfect to deal with daily life tasks.

2. Good leadership should need to have more characteristics such as excellent communication skills, flexibility, creativity, Disciplined, punctuality, straightforwardness, and help. As I am working in the restaurant for 16 months and still I am there. I have never changed my work because she is more cooperative, kind-hearted, self-motivated, and helpful which is more versatile for us because she appreciates everyone’s work and motivates everyone. According to me, a good leader is a person who appreciates their worker’s work and supports them.

3. There are many situations when I got empathy. A couple of months ago, on family day, we were preparing orders and there was a huge rush in orders that is why our new receptionist gave wrong order to the customers. after an hour when the customer visited us again he was shouting and frustrated in front of house staff. After that, I came to the reception area first to apologize to him and requested him to be calm, offered him another alternative as well as gave him a gift card. Then, I handled that situation and all my co-workers and owner felt proud of me and happy. They declared empathy towards me that how I dealt with the worst and most frustrated customers.

4. I will use many ways to motivate myself. First, I will be more dedicated and self-motivated toward my work and encourage my workers and appreciate their work. Second, I will give bonuses and tips to my workers who do their job well and donate money to needy people. Third, As a good leader, I will care about the thoughts, beliefs, feelings, and needs and try to cooperate with each one and deal with them politely.

informaiions before you actually start to do :

What is Emotional Intelligence?
On the previous page, we defined emotional intelligence as the ability to recognize and control not only your own emotions, but the emotions of others as well. This ability is often referred to as a person’s “emotional quotient” or “EQ”.
We have all had a classmate or a colleague who is exceedingly intelligent (or has a high intelligence quotient or “IQ”), but who does not interact well with others. Similarly, we all know people who are outgoing, gregarious and confident in any social situation (or who has a high “EQ”), but this does not necessarily mean they are intelligent in other ways.
In fact, according to psychologist Howard Gardner, there are several different “types of intelligence” and these “intelligences” can be developed throughout our lives1. Great news, right?! You probably see evidence of multiple intelligences theory in your own school life. This theory helps to explain why some people do well in math and computers, but struggle to write an essay. Or why some people are gifted artists, but have poor physical coordination. For more information on multiple intelligences and how this theory relates to emotional intelligence, let’s hear from Magdalena Goledzinowska with the Centennial Leadership Academy:

So, where do your strengths lie? We challenge you to think about your own characteristics and intelligences, as well as the characteristics of leaders you know as you continue working through this module.
Developing Emotional Intelligence
Even if you do not find yourself particularly “intelligent” in the areas of Intrapersonal and Interpersonal awareness, there is still opportunity for you to develop these skills and improve your EQ, which will undoubtedly make you a more effective leader. Before we delve into how to do that, let’s take a look at each of the five components of emotional intelligence

EQ in Your Life
Have you remembered your challenge in this module, to think about leaders in your own life? Doing so is going to allow you to apply these concepts to your past experience, as well as to think about your future as you begin your next assignment, which is introduced on the next page.

At first glance, the content in this module might seem strictly theoretical. We’ve quoted famous psychologists, shared some leadership theory and even included some graphs and infographics for good measure! But wait….
Although perhaps not immediately evident to you, the concept of emotional intelligence and its impact on effective leadership is far more than just a chapter of theory you can find in any textbook. The assignment in this module challenged you to apply these concepts to your own experiences and even though you might have submitted your assignment, your job is not done!
As you wrap up your program and prepare to graduate, many of you will take on new jobs, work with new teams of people and maybe even assume new supervisory responsibilities. We challenge you to remember what you’ve learned about emotional intelligence and empathy. It will not only help you understand the behaviour of others, it will contribute to your own career success as a leader.
