Ethical SWOT Analysis
Students will analyze the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of their chosen technology.
Historical Context and Ethical Questions
Students will define their chosen technology, identify key historical events surrounding that technology in the form of a timeline, create several ethical questions to be answered, and determine the ethical lens they will view their technology through.
Literature Review
Students will identify at least five key sources related to their chosen technology, summarize their key points, analyze their strengths and weaknesses, and draw connections among the sources.
Equity Impact Assessment
Students will assess the impact of their chosen technology on disadvantaged people in society. The assessment will include the goals of the technology, groups likely to be impacted by the technology, regions most likely to be impacted, and positive, negative, and possible unintended consequences the technology might produce.
Code of Ethics
Students will create a code of ethics appropriate to their chosen technology. The code will include a preamble, guiding principles, and applications of those principles.
Recommendations
Students will create written recommendations based on their chosen technology. The recommendations will consist of an introduction and thesis, a discussion of the ethical dilemmas raised by the technology, recommendations to ameliorate those dilemmas, and a conclusion that summarizes the main arguments.
