Team development program

Your “presentation” might include video clips, group exercises, simulations/role-plays, games, etc. The Library can be an excellent resource for you in doing your research for this presentation. You should strive to make your presentation time as informative and entertaining as possible for your colleagues. You will be graded both on the quality of the content delivered and on the quality of the delivery (for example, speaking quality, quality of overheads, creative learning techniques used, etc.) This assignment will allow you to demonstrate mastery of course material through formal presentation and through responses to questions.

The presentation-assignment is described in more detail below.

As leaders, develop a comprehensive training & development program that you would implement in the workplace, or elsewhere (a sports team? … a church-based team? … a social-action team? … a musical or dramatic “team”? … etc.). Your presentation should focus on your specific team, but it should also serve as a guide to your classmates as they form and/or develop similar teams. In your presentation you should include a formal training & development plan, exercises, and facilitation notes for the leader.

You should begin your presentation by describing in detail the purpose of the team you will be focusing on, its current “condition,” and what you hope to accomplish with it. Components of your training might include, but are not limited to, the following:

a. What are your recommendations for the direction the team should take?
b. How can/should a leader assist in the success of a team?
c. What resources will team members receive?
d. What is the estimated time frame for the teams to form, learn, and achieve cohesion after recommended actions?
e. How active will the leader be in the process of the team’s stages?
f. Describe how both positive and negative actions and relationships might best be approached.
