Exam #1 Short Essay
Read Carefully: The short essay response should be at least 2 paragraphs in length and will be graded based on the criteria described in the short essay rubric.
Directions: Using the essay rubric as a guide, type a 2 paragraph essay response to ONE of the following questions. Please insert your response in the text box or upload it as a Word or PDF file. If you don’t have Microsoft Word, I’d recommend typing in whatever word processing program you have and then copy/pasting your essay into the Blackboard assignment text box. Due to Blackboard randomly timing out, it’s not a good idea to type a long response in the textbox without saving it to the clipboard.

During the Middle Ages, several reformers tried and failed to challenge and change the corruption within the medieval Roman Catholic Church. How and why did Martin Luther finally succeed in leading a reformation of Christ’s church?
Explain the relationship or describe the dynamic between the First Age of Imperialism and the Rise of the Nation-State. Were they directly or indirectly correlated?
Discuss the causes and consequences of the Italian Renaissance. Has the Renaissance been overrated by Western historians?
