Final Paper Guide
General Requirements
Minimum of 5 pages (The 5th page contains the list of cited references)
Typewritten, double-spaced, Times Roman 12 font
Papers will be subjected to “Turnitin.com” to detect plagiarism (the practice of taking someone else’s work or ideas and passing them off as one’s own = cheating)
Consultation with the Librarian for Information Literacy (looking for references, properly citing references, listing of references, etc.)
Online references are available so it is a must for you to consult with the Librarian
List all references properly on the 5th page of your paper
Part I.
1. Identify a medical ethics issue (or issues) that you think is relevant today. Have this choice of yours be approved by your instructor. After approval, discuss thoroughly why you chose this issue. It is important for you to choose one that you are interested in and has connection or relevance with your intended future career as a healthcare professional. You can cite your personal reasons if you want to but be sure to state factual proof to support your reasons. Cite your references (Minimum of one paragraph)
Explain in detail (with depth and clarity) this ethical issue. Be sure to cite references or sources. Remember that your opinion is important but NOT when you must objectively deal with an issue. If you have a problem looking for references or sources, consult the Librarian (Ms. Kelsey Gallagher- Kelsey.gallagher@eicollege.edu). She is available to help you. Be mindful of proper citation because you can be liable for plagiarism, which is a major offense here in EIC. Cite at least 4 (preferably more) references for this part of your paper. (Minimum of one paragraph)
Discuss how this ethical issue is related with other existing medical issues. Identify and explain very well this connection. Cite as many references as possible. (Minimum of one paragraph)
Identify and Discuss at least one ethical theory (more is better) that is applicable to the ethical issue that you have chosen. Explain thoroughly the application. Support your explanation with factual proof (NOT your opinion or personal experience). (Minimum of one paragraph)
Part II.
1. Discuss your position or core belief regarding the issue. Remember that your opinions are ok to cite but they should be supported with factual proof. Cite as many references as you can to justify your position. One tip is to cite published research findings about the issue. (One paragraph minimum)
2. Discuss the implication of this issue in healthcare. This serves as your conclusion. Cite as many references as you can (one paragraph minimum).
