As a children’s author, you will be creating an original storybook. This book will reflect your understanding of how the combination of plot, character, setting, and theme can be written and illustrated to appeal to children of all ages

Work involved:
Write and illustrate an original children’s storybook.

Storybook Guidelines:
Write and illustrate a creatively (not necessarily professionally) bound book that includes:

Cover: illustration, author name, illustrator name, title
Frontispiece: page after cover w/ title, author, illustrator, copyright date
Story: typed or neat handwriting, plot, geared towards four- to five-year-old w/ a moral or lesson. The story should be about 20 pages, approximately 20 words per page (400 words-ish total). The story must be appropriate for this age level (no violence, swearing, etc.).
illustrations: Can be photographs, drawn on a computer, cut and paste with construction paper. May be done by you, friend, family member… whoever, as long as you give the person credit
author page: on the inside back cover— includes picture of the author and short biography
story synopsis: on the back of the book cover—hooks reader and gives a brief summary w/o giving away too much.
