Use the example of essay
Maureen Griffin’s “Five Ways to Read Hemingway’s ‘A Clean, Well-lighted Place'” to guide you. You are welcome to apply the same five literary approaches that Griffin uses or select different literary approaches.
However, in contrast (!) to Griffin’s essay, your thesis, and conclusion should indicate which approach, in your opinion, offers the most fruitful and meaningful interpretation of the story. (Yout thesis statement should make this point clear to the reader but avoid using the first or second person as neither is typically appropriate in standard academic writing.)

Your paper should include:
introductory, body, and concluding paragraphs
be four (4) pages in length
use textual evidence–paraphrasing and direct quotations–to support your claims
use MLA format and documentation style
