Before you design your survey, you need to think about the following questions. Begin your assignment by answering the following:
What is your objective in conducting a survey? Is it descriiptive? Do you only want to describe what is out there (for ex. people’s attitudes, beliefs, opinions about X)? Why would this be sufficient for your research study? Or is it analytical? Do you want to analyze why people think the way do about X, Y, Z? In other words, do you want to analyze where their beliefs, opinions, thoughts about X,Y, Z are coming from, how are they shaped and by what? Why do you think this would be appropriate for your research study?
Who are the people you plan to survey? Age, class, gender, education, etc? Why? How are they relevant to your research study?
What are the key areas in which you want to ask them questions?
