Children in care – how it effects their education. Identifying and critically evaluating a range of strategies and approaches which have been developed to try and support children in care in the education system. To include multi-agency provision and issues such as: Partnership between education social services Holistic approaches in communities Mentoring and counselling approaches Alternative provision- boarding schools – Pupil referral units etc Primary intervention programmes to tackle teenage pregnancy, sexual abuse and parental neglect Social pedagogy Parenting programmes and school outreach work. Theorists to be included please, such as bowlby etc. The learning outcomes are: 1.Critically evaluate the approaches and efficacy of strategies to assist vulnerable pupils 2. Identify and apply concepts and theories relevant to the issues examined in module 3. Apply advanced research skills through independent identification of a range of appropriate sources within children in care and critically reflect-on the value and characteristicsof these sources. To include a training plan related to children in care (I have provided an example in the uploaded files) – Design (on no more than 2 sides of A4 paper, maximum of about 500 words) an in-school plan, or strategy for greater inclusion and support for your chosen group of learners (choose one you have included in your lit review). Please use the template supplied for you. •Write an accompanying rationale (1500 words) that justifies your choices and provides an evidence base as to why you think such approaches would be effective for your chosen group of learners.
