For this paper, you will conduct a literature review to find out what other researchers have learned about child language development. You will need to start with a research question, e.g., Do infants in daycare have a larger vocabulary than infants at home?
In this assignment you are expected to find 3 peer-reviewed journal articles on language development, read each of the articles, and provide a summary of 1 article and an explanation for why you chose the other two articles. Try to use relatively current research articles (published since 1990).
After summarizing your literature review, write a one to two paragraph descriiption of how your articles can help in the development of education children’s television shows or educational video games.
You can use your textbook to help locate articles that are relevant to your research topic. If, for example, you are investigating child-directed speech (CDS), reading page 245 in your textbook would be a good place to start. You can then look for articles that your textbook cites (e.g., O’Neill et al., 2005). Use the Reference section (R-1) in the back of your textbook to locate more information about that article.
You can also use PsycINFO to search for articles using keywords or author names. Full text articles are available on PsycInfo (please download .pdf files of these articles and attach them to your assignment). You should be able to locate and access most articles through the UNLV Library Website for free. Do not pay for these articles. If you have problems with the library website, please contact a librarian for assistance.
