Community Engagement: Infectious disease in the Community
In this activity, students will select an infectious disease that is a public health problem
(supported by a high incidence and/or prevalence, or mortality, economic burden, etc.). Ideally,
the disease must affect a vulnerable population. The manuscriipt must be typed in APA 7th edition
with references and in-text citations and a title page. Make sure to research APA 7th edition.
What must be included?
The name of the infectious disease, the community or population that is more affected
and why (incidence, prevalence, mortality, economic burden, social impact, etc.). What has been
done to mitigate or resolve the problem and why it is still a problem that needs resolution. What
would you do to resolve it and why do you think it can help?
Some more instructions:
The manuscriipt must be one to two pages long, excluding the title page and the
references page. The references must include only scientific articles from peer reviewed journals
of maximum 6 years old. Websites such as the CDC, DHS, or similar. Do not use radio or TV
shows, or similar as references.
Rubric:
Content: 70% of the grade.
APA, redaction, grammar, spelling, and originality: 30% of the grade.
Total possible points: 100%
