Task Rationale
The strategies used to tackle global health problems take many forms and have varying levels of success. These strategies may be developed and/or implemented by local communities, national and international, or private organisations. Although these strategies are designed to improve the population’s health, they may not be as effective as planned or have unintended consequences.
Therefore, for this assignment, you will identify and evaluate the effectiveness of a global health strategy in a country other than Australia.
Assessment task:
Written report
Instruction:
The task is to create a report on one strategy that addresses a global health problem in a country other than Australia. Students are to evaluate the development and implementation of the strategy and how it addresses the needs of the population of interest. The report is to be formatted using the template located on Learnline.
Word limit:
2000 words. Headings, tables, figures, and in-text citations are included in the word count; the reference page is not (a word count that is outside the ±10% range will lead to a reduction of 10% of the total mark available for the assessment)
Font:
Times New Roman 12
Line Spacing:
1.5 or double
Reference system:
APA 7th (minimum 10 credible references no older than ten years old)
Knowledge
Identify a contemporary global health problem and demonstrate an in-depth understanding of a strategy that addresses this issue in a country outside of Australia. Make clear links between the strategy and the healthcare problem, supporting the report with relevant population data and global health-related statistics. These can be in the form of tables or graphs.
Critical analysis
Evaluate the development and implementation of a global health strategy; how it was developed, who developed it, how it was implemented, who it targeted, how it addresses the problem, and whether it achieved its goal.
Argument
Provide a logical and coherent argument for or against the strategy by identifying and synthesising credible references.
Communication
Communicate ideas coherently and logically, using language and terms consistent with global health reports. Structure report using the headings provided.
Introduction/Background
(250-500)
Describe the global health challenge that forms the basis of the report. Establish the importance of the global healthcare challenge and why it is important in your country of interest. Consider who is impacted and why this challenge must be addressed.
Problem statement
(250-500)
Explain why the problem exists in your country of interest, including a brief analysis of factors that contribute to the healthcare challenge. This section could include graphs/tables.
Global health strategy
(750-1000)
(Sub-headings can be used in this section, i.e., Development, implementation etc.)
Identify and analyse one global health strategy that is or was used to address the identified healthcare challenge. Evaluate how it was developed, who developed it, how it was implemented, who it targeted, how it addresses the problem. This section should also include an analysis of potential or actual barriers to successful implementation.
Conclusion
(250)
Provide a conclusion to the report that reinforces the main arguments made. Do not introduce new information but use the reported information to clarify whether the strategy was successful or not successful and any gaps or problems discovered.
References
Use in-text referencing in CDU APA 7th to format in-text referencing and the reference list.
Use credible and reliable resources not older than ten years old. Use APA 7th to format in-text referencing and reference list.
