Over the next 3 weeks, you will be conducting research on a famous figure in World
History of your choosing. With that research, you will need to complete a
combination of activities below. Each activity is assigned a certain number of points.
You many pick any combination of activities to complete, but they must add up to at
least 100 points. You may go over 100 points, but the highest grade you can receive
is a 100.

Below you will find a list of the activities that you can choose from, listed by the
amount of points they are worth. Remember, you do not have to do all of the
activities but enough to add up to 100 points.
5 Points:
 Word Cloud:
Using a website like abcya.com or a similar one, design a colorful word cloud
with at least 20 words that represent your figure. 10 should be character
descriptions and 10 should be significant events, places, and names in his or
her life.
 Tombstone:
You will design a tombstone for your figure that includes birth and death
dates, the name of the figure, and a quote either said by the figure that
describes his or her life, or a quote said about the figure by another person.
10 Points:
 Birth Announcement:
Write a birth announcement that may have appeared in the newspaper on
the day your figure was born. The announcement should include the
birthdate, parents’ names, birth location, and any other important
information. If some of the information is not available, you may create a
reasonable response, but must designate the made up information with an
asterisk (*).
 Obituary:
You will write an obituary for your figure. It should include birth and death
dates, parents names, spouse’s & children’s names (if applicable), town
figure was living at time of death, how the figure died, careers held, hobbies
enjoyed, and any other important information. If some of the information is
not available, you may create a reasonable made up response, but must
designate the made up information with an asterisk (*).
 Vanity Plate:
You will design a vanity plate for the figure you have chosen. A vanity plate
may contain up to 7 letters, numbers, and symbols. The license plate should
have a clever slogan or phrase that describes your figure. It should also
include an important year renewal sticker and an illustration of an important
country to this figure. This may be hand drawn or computer generated.
 Driver’s License:
You will design a driver’s license for the figure you have chosen. The license
must contain the following information: city & country of issue, date of issue,
date of birth, hair color, eye color, height, weight, gender, address, and a
photograph/illustration of your figure. If some of the information is not
available, you may create a reasonable made up response, but must
designate the made up information with an asterisk (*).
 Wedding Invitation:
You may complete this project IF your figure was married. Your wedding
invitation must include the following information: husband’s name, wife’s
name, wedding date, wedding location. If some of the information is not
available, you may create a reasonable made up response, but must
designate the made up information with an asterisk (*). This may be hand
drawn or computer generated.
15 Points:
 Political Cartoon:
You will design a political cartoon that involves your historical figure. Political
cartoons often poke fun at political decisions and views. They often include
symbolism and exaggeration. You can google examples of famous political
cartoons to get an idea of what one might look like. Though, remember, you
are creating your own NOT just redrawing one that has already been made.
20 Points:
 Newspaper Article:
You will write a newspaper article describing an event that occurred during
your figure’s life. This article should not describe your figure, but instead
should give insight into the time period during which your figure lived. For
example, if your figure was George Washington, you might write an article
about the Declaration of Independence being signed. MUST include a
photograph or illustration.
 Journal Entry:
You will write a journal entry from the point of view of your selected figure.
The entry must take place on an important date in the figure’s life, but you
may creatively imagine some details as long as they do not contradict with
historical facts. Your journal should be at least one page in length.
 Hand Drawn Map:
You will draw a map that is relevant to your figure’s life. This could be a city,
state, country, or world map, depending on your figure. This map should be
factual. On the map, please label five significant places to the figure, and
write one sentence per location describing the place’s importance in your
figure’s life.
 Timeline:
You will create a timeline of your figure’s life. You should include 10 of the
events you feel are most important. Each event should include the date,
name of the event, and a sentence description of the event. Event should be
neat and have illustrations.
 Comic Strip:
You will create a comic strip about your character. The comic strip should
have at least five frames. You may creatively imagine some details as long as
they do not contradict with historical facts.
 Wanted Poster:
You will create a wanted poster for your figure. The poster should include a
photograph or illustration of your figure, a physical description, last seen date
& location, and what the figure is wanted for. Finally, it should include a
person and address to contact if the figure is found. The reason your figure is
“wanted” does not have to be negative. For example, George Washington
could be wanted for “never telling a lie”.
25 Points:
 Trading Card:
You will design a trading card for your figure that includes a photograph or
illustration of the figure and important dates from his/her life, skills, physical
description, and other important information.
 Holiday Ornament:
Design an ornament that would hang on a holiday tree. The ornament should
represent your figure in some way. Write a paragraph describing the
ornament and how it represents the figure.
 10 Question Quiz:
Write a 10 question quiz about your character’s life. Include an answer key.
30 Points:
 Career Recruitment Brochure:
Design a brochure to attract people to the career your figure had. Include all
the perks you’d have if working in this career. If the figure had many careers
throughout his/her life, you many select one of them or include them all in
the brochure. The brochure should have a cover and three inside panels that
are colorful, informative, and include photographs or illustrations.
 Artifact Museum:
Choose 5 “artifacts” to label and place in a container. These artifacts must be
physical objects (no illustrations or photographs) that represent or would be
significant to your figure. Each item should be labeled and include a
description of how it represents your figure.
50 Points:
 Biography:
Type a two-page, double-spaced biography of your figure in 12 point font. The
biography should include:
o important dates
o important people (spouse, children, business partner, etc.)
o career(s)
o hobbies
o accomplishments
o why this figure is significant in World History
o other important information about their life
 Costume Sketches:
Sketch three costumes the figure may have worn throughout his or her life.
The costumes should be historically accurate and include a description about
when & where the figure would have worn them. These sketches should be
done in color and look like costume sketches done by artists for films and
fashion design. (Should be realistic, accurate, & detailed. No stick people.)
 One-Act Play:
Write a one-act play that takes place during one day of your figure’s life. The
play should be set up like a traditional play and include notes about
characters, setting, and act title, as well as dialogue between characters and
narrator’s lines if necessary. You may creatively imagine some details as long
as they do not contradict with historical facts.
