Answers for each question should be about 80 words at maximum; this is not an essay, and pithiness is a criterion for evaluation. Debate propositions are due on 9am the day of the tutorial. If you learned about the topic in the process of contributing to the debate, feel free to submit a second attempt at the debate propositions after your tutorial – but it is the first submission before 9am on the day of your tutorial that will be marked as part of your debate presentation.
Reading: Michell J. “Measurement and numerical reasoning.” (Chapter 8 in Bell & Staines, 2001). Joel Michell has also published more widely on this theme for decades for decades, and a quick search on an academic database will find plenty of examples of further arguments. Alternatively, look at the textbooks from your previous stats classes for the view on measurement that Michell attacks.
