· Your exam is a closed book exam.You are not expected to cite specific page numbers, rather you should be able to cite by title and/or author name which of the 4 required books you are referencing to support your response. You do not need to cite films or podcasts by name, but you are expected to know the historical information that has been covered in them.
· Here is a change from the previous announcement:Your responses only need to be two to three paragraphs in length rather than three or more as stated previously.
· There will be no retakes, one submission per person. One question will be provided at a time, and your answers will not be automatically saved until you hit the submission button. Please be prepared to complete the exam in one sitting.

· How much time will I have?: The midterm will open on Monday, July 25 at 12:00 a.m. PT and close the same day at 11:30 p.m. PT. Once you open the exam, a timer will start, and you will have 1.40 hours to complete it.
· What is the exam format? The exam consists of five essay questions worth 20 points each for 100 points total. You are expected to answer all five questions.
· How long do my answers need to be? Answers must be (this is a change) two to three paragraphs longand should demonstrate your understanding of and engagement with the course materials. Think of your midterm answers as being several weekly discussion posts combined into one, coherent response. It is imperative that course readings and instructional media are integrated into each answer with explicit references and citations. Remember, we aren’t looking for a simple recitation of class material, we are looking for your responses to bring unique insights into class materials.
