Cognitive dissonance refers to a situation involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs, or behaviors. This produces a feeling of mental discomfort leading to an alteration in one of the attitudes, beliefs or behaviors to reduce the discomfort and restore balance (McLeod, 2018), the example of I’m an animal lover but I eat meat was very interesting to me since i do love animals and i had dogs all my live, I will analyze my point of view in the matter, lets start will the ending the winning side in my case is eating meat, now let’s go through my thinking process, since little I have been doing sports because I like them specifically gymnastics, in Cuba I attended sports schools that had their own nutritionist making sure we were eating a healthy diet not only my sport but every other sport like boxing, baseball, basketball and many more, each sport require a different diet specifically for that sport and on top of that each athlete need it its own diet plan to help them excel in that sport, we had many different diets but one of the same constant we had no matter the sport or the person was meat, and if you want to do any research on Cuba about meat you will find that in Cuba the government controls the meat like its there god, a family of four may get two pounds of chicken for the whole month of two pounds of fish including head and tail, so if a country that barely gives meat to its people because they control it like crazy gives athletics meat every day then I believe that reinforces the importance meat represent to us, plus Cuban government has tried to find every way possible to substitute meat for its people and has not yet been successful. Another reason I have is animals eat each other if you change the roles for example give a lion all the meat it could eat and when is full then place a person twenty feet from them lets see if they don’t try to kill it, while on the other side you can say you are invading its space if the person is going away from it, it should not try to kill you but in reality, it will or when people are swimming at the beach and a shark comes to try and eat you. The last reason and the strongest reason in my mind when the question is asked if you are an animal lover why do you eat meat? Since to eat meat you killing an animal, then let me ask one back when you eat plan didn’t someone kill the plant you are eating? Plants are living beings just because we don’t hear the scream or the tears does not mean is not happening how can they be 100% sure that plants don’t suffer. In conclusion, while I do understand that is hard for people to understand how I can love animals but at the same time eat them, they can not prove that plants are any different from animals, and if I wanted to go into more details I would ask if there is anything we can eat that is not alive at one point cause that is impossible because even if you give examples like milk or cheese guess what they have bacteria in them which are living organisms we kill when we eat those products.
