Does mainstream success prevent meaningful dissent or radical social change?

The exam will be posted until Saturday (July 30) at 11:59pm PST.
The exam will be time-constrained: you will have 3 hours to complete it from the time you start. You will not be able to start and stop and re-start or continue, so be sure to give yourself 3 full uninterrupted hours to complete it. If you did not finish before the end of 3 hours, the exam will be submitted ‘as is’ at the 3-hour mark.
The very latest you can start the exam: Saturday (July 30) at 9pm PST.
Avoid problems related to technical irregularities:
When you start the exam, copy or screenshot the questions.
Write your answers in a Word doc, *not directly into WebCampus. Then upload your answers into WebCampus.
If you lose connection, let me know as soon as possible (bw_stew@fdu.edu) *and then continue answering the questions within the 3 hours. If you had lost internet connection, email me your answers by the end of the 3 hours. I will be able to see in WebCampus when you began the exam.
The exam will consist of 2 essay questions. Do not refer to outside sources, only course material. Be prepared to discuss the creative texts:

V for Vendetta
I will be submitting your essays through SafeAssign, so please DO NOT PLAGIARIZE! If you need help understanding plagiarism, please see our syllabus, or email me. Plagiarism will result in a 0 (zero) for your exam grade and will be reported to the school.
There is no specific length for your essay answers – just answer as best and as completely as you can within the given time. You do not need to worry about proper citation format, but be sure you write your essay as a proper essay – intro/thesis, body paragraphs, conclusion.
Not everyone will have the same questions for their exam.

What is psychoanalysis? What is postmodernism? What is Marxism? Considered as forms of dissent, what are they dissenting? Use creative 3 creative texts from the course (listed in the instructions for this exam) to explain.

QUESTION 2

Across the course, we have considered the possibility of “dissent” in popular culture products. Is it possible for “pulp” or mainstream culture to actively and meaningfully dissent from the social norm? Does mainstream success prevent meaningful dissent or radical social change? Consider this in relation to at least 3 (THREE) course readings across the course as a whole.
