Critical Assignment Overview: The purpose of the critical assignment is to create a historical moment paper that reviews an ethical communications situation. In this assignment, students will select a cultural or societal issue in society (at any point in time) and discuss the ethical or unethical communication that was related to the issue. The paper will be completed using specific directions below and be submitted in APA format and style. Students will use assigned readings, lectures and videos to complete the case studies.
Critical Assignment Instructions Final Essay – Historical Moment Paper A major theme in the text and class is that ethical communication is critical at this moment in human history. This paper consists of 2 parts and should be at least 8 pages in length.
Part 1: In Part 1 of this paper you are to…
1) Research and describe an issue or problem that you consider of major important at this historical moment.
2) Include a discussion of key communication factors of this issue or problem.
3) Apply concepts and theories from the communication courses you have completed or are currently taking.
Part 2: Part 2 builds upon Part 1. You add the following:
1) an analysis of the ethical issue(s) of this problem and
2) a discussion of how you plan to address this issue or problem, guided by your personal ethical commitments.
